Annual Social Events

Picnic in the Park--
Our largest annual event, the Picnic in the Park is generally held in June at the Schifferdecker Park in Joplin.  This event features grilled burgers, hot dogs, home made baked beans, and the best susie-Qs around!  For the last two years, Mark Chapman has provided live music and food has been prepared by area County Commissioners.  Join us for our next Picnic in the Park in June of 2008!

Walter Woods Fishing Trip and BBQ--This event is typically held in early September of each year at the Walter Woods Nature Preserve south of Joplin.  Consumers have the option of fishing in a stocked pond, walking or rolling on the accessible nature trail, playing Bocce Ball, or relaxing under the shade trees.  TILC staff prepares BBQ and participants have the opportunity to win door prizes.

Consumer Holiday Party--The Holiday Party allows us to celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas, Chanukah, or any other holiday celebrated by consumers at this time of year.  The party is generally held in early December and each consumer in attendance is given a nice gift from the Center. A buffet-style dinner is served by the staff and consumers have the opportunity to participate in crafts.
